Day/Evening Rotational Shift
8:30a-5p and 12p-8:30p
Rotational holidays and weekends.
Weekend shifts: 12p-8:30p
Education:
Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Training in phlebotomy
License/
Certifications:
License Required Valid NYS driver's license clear of violations consistent with the FLH Policy
Certifications Preferred: Certified phlebotomist
Experience:
Minimum:
Preferred: Previous phlebotomy experience
Other:
Minimum: Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills. Computer literacy
Preferred Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record

Requirements:
The staff member must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed by neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient group.
Exposure Control
Classification:
Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve a potential contact with blood, body fluids, tissues.
Responsibility
Under the supervision of the Laboratory Support Services Supervisor, collects blood specimens for the
laboratory from appropriate patients according to the Standard Operating Procedure Manual (SOPM)
and accepted practices.
Essential Job Functions:
(Maximum of 5 will be included in the performance appraisal)
Responsible for the initial management of specimens of all age groups and assigning priorities of care in accordance with triage standards.
Demonstrates proficiency in all testing procedures/policies according to Standard Operating Procedure Manual (SOPM).
Demonstrates the ability to identify, evaluate appropriate action to resolve problems (including contacts with service hot lines and representatives). Performs and evaluates QA/QC.
Ability to provide lab support to supervisor or a qualified medical technologist as requested
Performs other duties as assigned.
