Clinical Laboratory Services provides an array of timely and accurate diagnostic testing and other services to Baptist Health Corbin's patients, and to other patients and organizations in support of the facilities mission, vision and strategic priorities.
The phlebotomist is responsible for specimen collections, accessioning, labeling and transport of specimens; while optimizing patient safety with minimal medical/health care errors in any or all the sections of the Clinical Laboratory.
Collects blood specimens from patients of all ages using proper collection techniques, safety practices, and infection control procedures.
Accuratelyidentifiespatients and labels specimens according to established protocols.
Processes, documents, andtracksspecimens within the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Ensurestimelyspecimen collection, handling, and delivery to support efficient laboratory operations.
Communicates professionally and compassionately with patients, physicians, and coworkers whilemaintainingpatient confidentiality.
Supports quality assurance initiatives and follows all hospital safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines.
Assistswith inventory monitoring, supply management, and training of new employees and students.
Provides excellent customer service and responds promptly to patient and departmental needs.
