Job Description

We transform lives.

Phoenix Rescue Mission is a place of hope, healing, and new beginnings for men, women, and children facing hunger, homelessness, addiction, and other life-controlling issues. We follow Christ’s example of servant-leadership and teamwork, and we are a certified Best Christian Workplace. God is doing important work here, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

As Philanthropy Officer, you will build and steward relationships with our mid-level donors, the generous partners who give $1,000 to $7,499 each year. You’ll manage your own portfolio, make a lot of calls, and help donors see the lives changed through their giving. You’ll also identify the donors ready to take the next step toward major giving. This is a great fit for a self-starter with a fundraising or sales background who wants to do work that matters.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Our mid-level donors are the bridge between first-time generosity and lasting partnership. When you listen well, say thank you in a way that sticks, and connect each donor to the impact of their gifts, people stay, give more, and become advocates for the Mission. The hope and healing we offer every day depends on your work.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Own your portfolio. Manage and grow an assigned group of mid-level donors through personal calls, meetings, notes, and events, including local travel as needed.
  • Build real relationships. Learn what each donor cares about and connect them to the needs and stories of the Mission.
  • Ask with confidence. Carry out cultivation, solicitation, and follow-up strategies, and keep thank-you, impact, and stewardship touchpoints timely and personal.
  • Move donors forward. Upgrade qualified donors into your portfolio and work with the Philanthropy Manager and Development leaders to prepare future major donors.
  • Hit your goals. Drive results in revenue, retention, upgrades, engagement, and pipeline, and adjust your approach based on what the data shows.
  • Use data to guide your work. Keep accurate records in our donor CRM, review portfolio reports, and use what you learn to decide who to call and what to say.
  • Encourage donors in their faith. Share stories of transformation, celebrate their generosity, and pray with donors when the moment is right.

Requirements

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least two years of professional experience in fundraising, philanthropy, sales, relationship management, or a related field
  • Experience managing a donor portfolio, making solicitations, or cultivating individual giving relationships (preferred)
  • Experience with CRM systems (preferred)
  • Comfort interpreting data to guide decisions, and experience using AI tools to work smarter
  • Excellent conversational, written, and presentation skills
  • Confidentiality and sound judgment with sensitive donor information
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and willingness to sign the Mission’s Statement of Faith and Lifestyle

WHO WILL LOVE THIS JOB

  • You’re a self-starter with a strong work ethic who does best with trust and room to run, not close oversight.
  • You’re competitive and driven by goals, and you hear “no” without losing your footing.
  • You’re comfortable making a lot of calls and you enjoy the conversation.
  • You’re warm, relational, and socially intelligent, and you can read a room and adjust to the person in front of you.
  • You stay composed and even-keeled, and you bring a good sense of humor to the team.
  • Your faith is genuine, and you want your work to be an expression of it.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Work that matters, alongside a team that celebrates one another
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Generous paid time off
  • Paid holidays: 12
