The University of Washington Information School is recruiting PhD students for the Teaching Assistant position listed below (Click link to see course description).

INFO 300 A: Research Methods

INFO 300 A Lecture: MW 11:30 AM - 12:50 PM

INFO 300 AB Seminar: W 8:30 AM - 10:20 AM

Responsibilities may include some or all of the following duties:

• attend instructor/TA meetings and lectures
• Conduct lab section meetings and facilitate discussions
• Request or acquire necessary equipment
• Hold regular office hours and tutor students
• Manage and respond to course-related e-mail
• Prepare and maintain webpage for course materials
• Develop and maintain electronic bulletin boards and discussion sites, etc.
• Prepare and grade assignments and test questions
• Proctor and score exams
• Prepare and maintain course attendance records
• Calculate quarter grades and maintain grading records
• Request student assessments for course
• Act as liaison between student and professor
• Prepare and present lecture materials and prepare handout materials
• Review literature, and place course materials on library reserve.

TA positions average 20 hours per week. TAs must attend all classes and hold regular weekly office hours. If you are selected to TA for a course having lab sections, you must attend the section you are assigned to.

Pay:

The monthly pay rate for a TA paid on Schedule 1 is $3,794 at the intermediate level and $3,984 at the candidate level. TA/RA/SA/Predoctoral instructors and their dependents may be eligible to receive UW-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage through the Graduate Appointee Insurance Program (GAIP); may be eligible for one personal holiday and up to 10 paid holidays; and may be awarded up to 28 hours of sick time off (prorated based on FTE).

Note: This job classification is governed by a negotiated labor contract and is subject to union shop provisions

Qualifications

• Ph.D. student enrolled at the University of Washington during Autumn Quarter 2026
• Enrolled for a minimum of 10 credits during Autumn Quarter 2026
• Strong interest in working with students having varying skill levels
• Proficiency in the course content
• Prior teaching and TA experience is preferred
