Job Description

Schedule:

  • This is a 2nd shift position
  • Primarily Monday to Friday
  • Every 4th weekend rotation required

Performs all specified technical aspects of pharmacy including assistance with orientation and onboarding, continuing education, and competency assessment of technicians and transporters. Collaborates with members of the Pharmacy Administration to ensure high standards of care, thorough proper didactic and practical applications, as well as comprehensive knowledge-, skill-, and attitude-based training requirements. Assesses, plans, and evaluates educational programming and services required for all levels of technician and transporter staff to meet role expectations.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as the primary facilitator for new hire department orientation and onboarding. Coordinates onboarding schedule, review orientation evaluations, and coordinates trainee and trainer feedback.
  • Coordinates formal and informal educational programs for Pharmacy staff including but not limited to pharmacy education training days, continuing education efforts, ongoing educational programs, and annual competencies, including all follow-up and remediation, to meet the needs of department.
  • Maintains knowledge of coaching concepts and methods; and ability to encourage, motivate, and guide individuals or teams in learning and improving effectiveness. Coaches others to improve their skills through observation and feedback.
  • Provides innovative solutions to improving personal and team effectiveness. Strategizes innovative and dynamic training methods, including simulation, didactic, practical, and observation-based training and educational planning.
  • Develops and maintains Pharmacy standards of care, policies and procedures, and training manual materials. Develops and reviews orientation and onboarding guidelines and timeframes with at least annual review and updates.
  • Completes feedback for each new employees and current employees to be included in their new or annual employee evaluation, respectively, as well as participating in debriefing and long-term planning with Pharmacy Administration.
  • Organizes and oversees at least quarterly meetings of the Educator-related committees with corresponding representative Technician IIs, Tech Supervisor, and Pharmacy Administration.


Education Requirement:

As required by listed licensure and/or certification requirement.


Licensure Requirement:

Registered with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Registered Technician, required.


Certifications:

Certification by examination as a pharmacy technician (CPhT, ExCPT), required.


Skills:

Must demonstrate ongoing Pharmacy Technician II competencies, knowledge, and skills.


Experience:

  • Three years of experience as pharmacy technician, required.
  • One year of experience at NCH, preferred.
