Job Description

Reports To: Director of Retail Pharmacy

FLSA Classification: Full-Time, Non Exempt, Hourly $18.00-$21.00

Essential Functions:

  • HIPPA Compliance.
  • Provide clerical and technical assistance in the development, management, and operation of the Pharmacy to effectively and efficiently serve patients in the community.
  • Operate the Pharmacy business systems according to established procedures and standards, to include ordering, receiving, stocking,pricing,inventory,and billing.
  • Assist in the receipt, processing, and dispensing of orders from prescribers according to established procedures and standards.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of appropriate records and reports according to established procedures and standards, and as directed.
  • Prepare insurance summaries; Audit procedures; order entry in computer system; third-party claims submission and reconciliation and unit-dose packaging.
  • Assist in the efficient operation of the department; participate actively in relevant department activity; provide suggestions on the development and operation of the Pharmacy; collaborate with other staff/administration in the development, management, and operation of the department and the program.
  • Maintain computer-based systems.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Receive prescriptions from patients enduring the validity of such.
  • Ensure safe and hygienic drug handling procedures in accordance with laws and regulations.
  • Recommend methods to improve pharmacy services.
  • Perform other special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain and demonstrate responsibility for self, and with respect to the effects and results of acts and efforts related to the program and organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One to three years of recent office and/or business systems experience; one of which as a Pharmacy Technician with telephone and in-person contact/transactions with patients or customers.
  • Ability to type accurately with moderate speed, and the ability to work/complete tasks accurately and individually and with minimal supervision.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Colorado or the ability to secure a provisional license. Alternatively, successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician program conducted by the Department of Health Services or successful completion of a junior college or collage Pharmacy Technician program approved by the Department of Health Services.

About Pioneers Medical Center

Pioneers' history began in 1947 when Freeman Fairfield, a previous resident of this community, approached the County Commissioners about establishing a hospital. Over the next several years, Mr. Fairfield worked with the Commissioners and a group of local citizens to build a hospital for the Meeker community. Opening its doors in 1950, Pioneers began offering acute health care and surgical services to the community, licensed through the State of Colorado Department of Health and Human Services. We are Medicare and Medicaid-certified, accept private insurance, and, of course, self-pay. Financial arrangements may be set up through the Business Office.

In 1964, the Walbridge Memorial Convalescent Wing opened its doors for long-term care, made possible through the generosity of the wills of Carl and Adelaide Walbridge. Attached to the north side of the hospital, the Wing, with its 33 beds, brings skilled and intermediate nursing to residents who are unable to care for themselves. Through the Wing's rehabilitation services, exercise, and activity groups, each resident's care is individualized to meet his or her physical, emotional, nutritional, and spiritual needs. The Wing is licensed by the State of Colorado Department of Health and Human Services, and accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and private-pay residents.

First-line health care services are delivered through Meeker Family Health Center. The MFHC originated in 1990 as a rural health clinic, and its physicians, nurse practitioners, and staff continue to strive to meet our community's and visitors' healthcare needs.
