The Medication Access technician supports ambulatory clinical pharmacy services by facilitating timely, affordable, and uninterrupted access to medications for patients in outpatient and ambulatory clinic settings. Under the direction of an Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacist, this role serves as a liaison between patients, providers, insurance payers, and retail and specialty pharmacies to resolve coverage, pricing, and dispensing barriers. Responsibilities include assisting patients with copay cards and patient assistance programs, maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic health record, and, when operationally necessary, functioning in a dispensing capacity in accordance with state law and organizational policy to support continuity of care.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
·Current California Board of Pharmacy – Licensed Pharmacy Technician required
Knowledge/Experience:
·Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy technician experience, preferably in an ambulatory care, retail pharmacy, or prior authorization setting.
·Understanding of pharmacy operations, prescription processing, insurance coverage, and prior authorization processes.
Skills:
·Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
·Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based clinical environment.
·Proficiency with electronic health records, pharmacy management systems, and documentation processes.
