ICE | PTSL Specialty Pharmacy Operations

The Pharmacy Technician IV works under the supervision of the pharmacist and assists with the preparation, delivery, and shipping of medication. Performs tasks within regulations set forth by state, federal, and accreditation bodies. The technician will provide excellent pharmacy services.
Minimum Qualifications:
HS/GED plus 4 yrs Pharmacy Tech Experience or Bachelors Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences;
Arkansas Pharmacy Technician Licensure
PTCB National Certification
1 year to obtain ASHP/ACPE-accredited technician training, or certificate program (such as PTCB Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician, ASHP Sterile Compounding Certificate, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
2+ years of UAMS pharmacy experience

Responsibilities:
Prioritizes order of filling (waiting, pick up, same day shipment, next day shipment) to meet patient needs and ensure patient satisfaction.
Labels all prescription bottles accurately and with pharmaceutical elegance and applies all appropriate auxiliary labels.
Ensures appropriate paperwork is included with each prescription fill.
Accurately fills orders to meet and improve metrics surrounding errors while processing prescriptions.
Documents appropriate information during the filling process to meet UAMS Policies and Procedures and URAC and ACHC Accreditation Standards.
Understands and follows all UAMS Policies related to medication processing and filling, including adherence to HIPAA laws.
Demonstrates understanding and proper handling of Hazardous Drugs.
Communicates with Specialty Pharmacy staff to ensure seamless pharmaceutical care for Specialty patients.
Maintains cleaning logs for supplies used in Specialty Pharmacy Operations.
Participates in scanning of Proof of Deliveries upon return to the pharmacy.
Able to train others in these processes.
The pharmacy technician will be expected to train and demonstrate proficiency of all technician roles in the area of Specialty Pharmacy Operations.
Can access necessary software and address any shipping issues expeditiously.
Can process prescriptions for shipment (including check out through the point of sale software and shipping label printing).
Can order shipping supplies and complete inventory review for shipping supplies.
Able to appropriately pack out cold chain and room temperature products insuring stability and protection from damage during transit.
Able to run biannual, seasonal testing on packages for accreditation requirements.
Understands how to evaluate and submit claims and billing exceptions to shipping companies.
Able to train others in these processes.
Assures medication supply is sufficient for needs and alerts the buyer to any deficiencies.
Proactively addresses supply to ensure availability for next day shipping. Completes regularly scheduled inventory counts and reviews (including but not limited to: cycle counts, annual inventory, out of date stock review).
Manages and updates inventory procedures and ensures all responsible parties complete inventory tasks as assigned.
Able to evaluate shipping inventory to readjust ordering point levels as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
