Emerald Specialty Pharmacy is seeking adaptable, patient-focused Pharmacy Technicians who are excited to help build a new specialty pharmacy from the ground up. What You'll Do

As a Pharmacy Technician, you'll support daily pharmacy operations while partnering closely with pharmacists, members, providers, payers, and pharmacy team members to ensure timely and accurate medication access.

Prescription Processing & Data Entry

  • Process prescriptions from intake through completion while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Enter prescription, member, provider, and insurance information into pharmacy management systems.
  • Review documentation for completeness and identify discrepancies requiring follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation.

Member & Provider Support

  • Serve as a point of contact for members, providers, and business partners regarding prescription status and medication access.
  • Assist with benefit investigations, prior authorizations, and claims-related inquiries.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers, payers, and members to resolve service issues and facilitate timely treatment.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service through phone, email, and other communication channels.

Claims & Pharmacy Operations

  • Support pharmacy claims processing and adjudication activities.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists to resolve prescription, coverage, and medication-related concerns.
  • Utilize pharmacy management systems and operational tools to support workflow efficiency.
  • Participate in quality assurance and compliance activities.

Fulfillment, Inventory & Shipping

  • Prepare, package, label, and distribute medications in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Support inventory activities including receiving, stocking, replenishment, and storage of medications and pharmacy supplies.
  • Coordinate shipping and delivery activities, including preparation of temperature-sensitive shipments when required.
  • Maintain shipment documentation and assist with tracking and delivery issue resolution.
  • Help ensure a safe, organized, and audit-ready pharmacy environment.

Build & Improve

  • Participate in process development and continuous improvement initiatives as Emerald Specialty Pharmacy grows.
  • Assist with creating efficient workflows and identifying opportunities to enhance service, quality, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support additional responsibilities as assigned to meet evolving business needs.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum two (2) years of pharmacy technician experience in pharmacy operations, specialty pharmacy, fulfillment, claims administration, mail-order pharmacy, or a related healthcare setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy systems and technology platforms.

Certification:

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT); compliance with state requirements for pharmacy staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialty pharmacy experience.
  • Mail-order pharmacy experience.
  • Experience with pharmacy claims, prior authorizations, or benefit investigations.
  • Experience supporting fulfillment, inventory, or shipping operations.
  • Experience in a startup, growth-oriented, or highly collaborative environment.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range is $23.63/hour - $33.09/hour. The position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus (variable depending on company and employee performance).

The pay range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, travel requirements, internal equity, business or organizational needs, and alignment with market data. At Blue Cross of Idaho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for the position. Compensation decisions are dependent on factors and circumstances at the time of offer.
