Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

About the Role.

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Pharmacy Technician to join our clinical team at Calderdale Recovery, supporting people accessing drug and alcohol recovery services.

You'll play a key role in delivering safe, effective and person-centred care, supporting medicines optimisation, opioid substitution treatment and harm reduction.

Working closely with colleagues across our multidisciplinary team, you'll use your pharmacy expertise to help improve people's health and wellbeing while supporting them throughout their recovery journey.

This is a varied clinical role where you'll work alongside recovery colleagues, prescribers, primary and secondary care, community pharmacies and other healthcare professionals to ensure people receive safe, coordinated and effective treatment.

What You’ll Do.

  • Support the safe and effective use of medicines across the service.
  • Dispense and administer medicines where appropriate and within your professional competencies.
  • Support the safe management of controlled drugs, medicines and stock.
  • Provide clear medication advice and support to people accessing the service and other healthcare professionals.
  • Support prescribing, treatment reviews and medicines optimisation.
  • Contribute to opioid substitution treatment, including medications such as methadone and buprenorphine.
  • Undertake and support health assessments, basic clinical observations and harm reduction interventions.
  • Support Blood Borne Virus (BBV) screening and immunisation services.
  • Work collaboratively with Recovery Coordinators, prescribers, pharmacies and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to medicines safety, clinical governance, audits and the management of medicines-related incidents.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records.

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need

  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • An NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, BTEC Pharmacy Technician qualification or equivalent.
  • Relevant post-qualification experience within community pharmacy, primary care or secondary care.
  • Experience of providing medicines-related advice and supporting safe medicines management.
  • Knowledge of Controlled Drugs regulations and medicines optimisation.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A compassionate, non-judgemental and person-centred approach.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate clinical records.
  • A commitment to promoting people's health, wellbeing and recovery.

Experience within drug and alcohol, mental health or related services would be advantageous.
