Pharmacy Technician

Position Summary

Working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting the preparation and dispensing of medications used in oncology treatment. This position assists with intravenous medication preparation, chemotherapy admixture support, inventory management, patient record maintenance, and pharmacy operations while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and safety standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare oral and intravenous medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Assist with chemotherapy, biologic, supportive care, and investigational medication preparation.
• Process and distribute prescription medication orders as directed.
• Maintain accurate patient records and reports within applicable pharmacy systems.
• Support investigational drug documentation and recordkeeping.
• Manage medication and pharmacy supply inventories, including ordering, receiving, storage, and tracking.
• Perform medication inventory counts and reconciliation.
• Maintain refrigerator, freezer, and room temperature monitoring logs.
• Enter medication orders accurately and support billing and charge documentation.
• Maintain organized filing systems and pharmacy records.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills with patients, providers, and team members.
• Complete required competency assessments and continuing education requirements.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Current Pharmacy Technician Certification from the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or applicable Texas registration requirements
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety

Preferred

• One to two years of IV admixture experience
• Oncology and/or chemotherapy compounding experience
• IV certification
• Experience working in a specialty pharmacy, infusion center, or oncology environment
