Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Location: White Plains, New York
Schedule: Night Shift | 11:00 PM–7:00 AM | Monday - Friday
Work Days: Monday–Friday | Alternating Weekends and Holidays
Pay Range: $28.67–$43.01 per hour

A healthcare organization in White Plains, New York, is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician

Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will support medication preparation and distribution, IV and cleanroom operations, automated dispensing systems, inventory management, medication reconciliation, and other hospital pharmacy functions.

Candidates must have at least one year of Pharmacy Technician experience and previous acute-care hospital experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with daily medication preparation and distribution
  • Process medication requests and fill patient-specific medication orders
  • Answer pharmacy phone calls and respond to medication-related requests within scope of practice
  • Support sterile compounding and cleanroom operations in accordance with USP 797 and USP 800
  • Fill and maintain automated medication dispensing cabinets
  • Maintain floor stock and replenish medications as needed
  • Fill and replace emergency medication kits
  • Assist with medication packaging and labeling
  • Support pharmacy inventory management and medication storage
  • Perform computer functions related to billing, labels, reports, and medication distribution
  • Maintain regulatory and departmental compliance standards
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Pyxis hardware, software, and system alerts
  • Escalate equipment or system issues to pharmacy IT, engineering, or vendor support when appropriate
  • Support other pharmacy technologies, including KitCheck, logistics systems, and Epic
  • Assist with automated dispensing cabinet installations, relocations, maintenance, and equipment tracking
  • Review medication utilization and help resolve stock-outs
  • Optimize medication inventory and available storage within Pyxis systems
  • Generate utilization, access, and inventory reports for pharmacy leadership
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, IT teams, and vendors to improve workflow and system efficiency
  • Participate in performance-improvement initiatives
  • Follow infection-control and medication-safety standards
  • Complete required competencies, training, and mandatory in-services
  • Attend staff meetings as requested
  • Perform additional pharmacy support duties and coverage as assigned

Emergency Department Responsibilities

When assigned to the Emergency Department, the Pharmacy Technician may:

  • Interview patients regarding their current home medications
  • Obtain accurate medication names, dosages, frequencies, and last doses taken
  • Update patient medication histories
  • Support providers and pharmacists with accurate medication reconciliation for patients being admitted
  • Communicate medication-history findings to the appropriate members of the healthcare team

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Previous acute-care hospital pharmacy experience
  • Current registration as a New York State Registered Pharmacy Technician, as applicable
  • Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), as applicable
  • Knowledge of medication distribution and dispensing systems
  • Strong attention to detail and medication-safety practices
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced hospital environment
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with pharmacists, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals

Qualified pharmacy students currently enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy may also satisfy certain registration and certification requirements in accordance with New York State regulations and organizational policy.

Preferred

  • More than one year of hospital Pharmacy Technician experience
  • Experience with sterile IV preparation
  • Knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800 standards
  • Experience with Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets
  • Experience with Epic
  • Experience with KitCheck or similar pharmacy technology
  • Emergency Department medication-reconciliation experience
  • Experience troubleshooting automated pharmacy systems
