Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our Health Services team. This position plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe and effective medication services for individuals in our care.

NOTE:
Upon accepting employment, persons must be eligible for a Pharmacy Technician Candidate Registration from the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. Before gaining permanent status with the agency, persons appointed to this position are subject to Chapter 9 of the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy regulations and are required to obtain a Pharmacy Technician Certificate from the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy.

Supplemental information

Job Duties:

  • Assisting in the preparation, packaging, and distribution of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist

  • Maintaining accurate medication inventories and records

  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, and institutional policies

  • Supporting daily pharmacy operations, including organizing supplies and processing medication orders

  • Collaborating with healthcare staff to promote efficient and secure medication management

Position-Specific Details

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

  • Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
  • An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
  • This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
