Department: Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Technician performs various functions in the drug distribution, sterile product preparation, medication packaging, and patient billing under close observation of the pharmacist and general supervision of the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Successful completion of a formal technician program or equivalent.

Minimum Experience/Skills: 1+ years experience as a hospital pharmacy technician preferred. Must have demonstrated proficiency in mathematical calculations and excellent written/verbal communication skills.

License/Certificates/Credentials:

  • Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern License from the State of California is required.
  • Valid California Driver’s License required if operating a motor vehicle for company business.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking
  • Lift/position up to 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 50 lbs of force
  • Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
  • Manual dexterity and mobility
  • Ability to move quickly

Vision Requirements:

  • Ability to adjust vision sufficiently to perform position accountabilities
  • Must be able to differentiate colors (color coded packaging/tablet identification)

Working Conditions:

  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
  • Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness)
  • Emergency and crisis situations
  • Subject to irregular hours
  • Increased stress due to multiple calls and inquiries
