Job Description

Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville Outpatient Pharmacy team is committed to ensuring the optimal, safe, and effective use of medications for all patients through advanced technology and innovative application of skilled personnel to improve clinical outcomes and community health in a value-based environment.

The primary purpose of the Pharmacy Technician is to assist the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager with serving customers and maintaining the Outpatient Pharmacy at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville. This position requires taking responsibility within appropriate guidelines under the supervision of the pharmacist for many of the medication preparation and distribution duties.

Assist pharmacists to perform routine/technical duties in the provision of hospital pharmacy services. Fill stock orders, medication preparation for dispensing. Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods with patient safety in mind. Ability to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities and solve problems. Ability to respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing).

High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Certified technician and related technical or college courses desirable but not required. Registration with Kentucky Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist Intern required. Pharmacy Technician Certification from CPhT/PCTB or NPTA required or obtained within 12 months of hire date.
