JOB DETAILSDepartment: Richfield Clinic Community Pharmacy

FTE: 1.0 (80 hours per pay period)

Workdays: Monday - Friday, and every 4th weekend

Shift(s): Days

Shift Length: 8 hours

Location: In-Person

Other: Bilingual English/Spanish required; A language test will be given to the final candidate(s) and a passing score will be required before an offer is made.

Purpose of this position: Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowable by law, while maintaining a favorable image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community.RESPONSIBILITIES:Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnelMaintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policiesPrepackages, prepares, labels, and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacistMaintains cash registers, credit card machines, and reporting for cash transactionsPrepares daily deposits for the cashier’s officeBills and credits patient medicationsStocks inventory in PharmacyRoutinely checks and removes outdated and expired medicationsDelivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduledFiles prescriptions and reportsMaintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashionEnters outpatient prescriptionsObtains and records patient drug historiesTriages orders, determines priorities, processes orders, and notifies the pharmacist as appropriatePerforms various calculations to determine the correct dose using weightIdentifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription orderTriages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as neededUses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbolsMaintains a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugsCompounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulationsResponsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medicationsCoordinates ordering and delivery of medications, supplies, and equipment to patients and clinical areas as requestedCompletes intake process for mail service, specialty, transplant, and limited distribution pharmacy patients including new patient enrollment, insurance verification, and medication refill and delivery scheduleDocuments in the EMR or other database applicable patient interactions according to specialty pharmacy practicesPerforms patient tracking, processing of patient specialty medication claims, customer service, issue resolution and/or escalationRequests and follows up on refill requests, processes Medicare and transplant claims and works on high level adjudicated claimsPerforms other responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to: back up phone coverage, data collection, reporting, process improvement, and maintenance of patient education materials

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEBilingual, English/SpanishCurrent Pharmacy Technician Registration with MN State BoardPTCB or ExCPT pharmacy tech certification within 1 year of date of hire, paid for by employee-OR-Current Intern License with the Minnesota Board of PharmacyPreferred QualificationsComputer skillsKnowledge of Pharmacy computer systemsInsurance and Billing ExperienceExperience working with specialty medications in a health system settingGraduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240-hour employer-based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experienceKnowledge/ Skills/ AbilitiesAbility to communicate with other employees and publicPossesses strong interpersonal skills, is a team player, and promotes positive team environmentExcellent customer service skillsDemonstrates good decision making skills, problem solving techniques, and possesses the ability to prioritize multiple tasksAbility to use a computer and associated programsAbility to understand oral and written instructionsAbility to learn and apply pharmacy procedures and interpret prescriptionsAbility to apply basic math skillsSome skill in record keepingAbility to use computer effectively
