The Pharmacy Technicians, under the guidance of the Pharmacists, assist in the preparation, distribution, safe handling of the drug inventory and maintenance of records as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

o High school graduation or equivalent
o Credentials
o Must be at least 18 years old. Active registration, in good standing, with the Nebraska Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
o Certified by a state or national certifying body which is approved by the board. If a pharmacy technician was registered with the state of Nebraska on January 1, 2016, he/she must be certified by January 1, 2017. If a pharmacy technician is registered after January 1, 2016, he/she has one year from the date of registration to become certified.

Physical Demands
1. Frequent walking/standing—worker is on his/her feet the majority of the day to perform direct or indirect duties.
2. Must have the skills and ability to bend/stoop, lift/carry, push/pull, balance, must have handling and manual dexterity, and must be able to speak/hear/see to perform the job.
3. Must be able to lift/handle supplies weighing up to 50 pounds as well as perform reaching motions greater than shoulder height in removing items from shelves.
Essential Functions
1. Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations.
2. Packages medications, restocks items in the dispensing areas, identifies and fills replacement items in floor stock areas, crash carts, automated devices, etc.
3. Prepares sterile products including large volume items and piggyback items.
4. Picks up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas when making delivery rounds throughout the day.
5. Generates reports and re-dispenses labels as required.
6. Answers telephone, identifying self and the department, directs calls to appropriate staff, responds to customers at the front counter and makes deliveries when requested.
7. Tracks expiration dates for medications within the pharmacy department and patient care areas and removes expiring medications from all areas of the facility.
8. Must work with the understanding that Pharmacist have the responsibility for over site of the work of pharmacy technicians as specified by State Law and are responsible to perform work related requests/tasks as assigned by the pharmacists.
9. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, a certified pharmacy technician may administer vaccines after completing additional certification and training as a Medication Aide required by federal, state, and institutional regulations.
