Looking for an opportunity to grow as a pharmacy professional in a nationally recognized FQHC? PCHC’s Pharmacy Department is looking for a Pharmacy Intern. As a Pharmacy Intern, you’ll work within integrated care teams to provide high-quality care and service to our patients. You’ll partner with pharmacists and other team members to accurately dispense medications and maintain inventory, equipment, and records. You must have spectacular customer service, the ability to multi-task, and the ability to maintain a safe and clean environment. Schedule: Per-Diem, Flexible Schedule Depending on Operational Needs + Your Availability (Pharmacy Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-6pm/Saturday 9am-5pm. While this position may be asked to cover pharmacy sites across PCHC, the home base/primary location for this position will be Penobscot Community Health Center on Union Street in Bangor. Mileage is reimbursable per PCHC's Business Travel & Expense Reimbursement Policy)

Highlights of the position:

  • Provides high quality customer service to our patients by demonstrating respect, kindness, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Provides direct support to pharmacists in the preparation, organization, and dispensing of medications.
  • Maintains pharmacy inventory, anticipating needed medications and supplies, and placing/expediting orders as appropriate.
  • Performs pharmacy cashier functions, collecting and reconciling payment for prescriptions and pharmacy merchandise.
  • Assists in maintaining compliance with quality assurance standards.
  • Engages and supports patients to ensure they feel heard, respected, and involved in their care.
  • Collaborates with pharmacy and practice teams to improve the patient experience and clinic processes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Intern in the state of Maine required.
  • Having a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and/or an appropriate length of driving experience for insurance purposes is required. Any concerns raised by the results of a driving record check will be subject to an individualized review to determine whether the infraction is relevant to the individual’s ability to perform the responsibilities of the position, in accordance with PCHC’s Automobile Safety and Background Check policy.

PCHC, a non-profit organization founded in 1997, is the only Federally Qualified Health Center in the Greater Bangor area, Waldo County, and in the Jackman region. Its purpose is to ensure access to comprehensive and integrated out-patient health care services to those on MaineCare, Medicare and those both with and without insurance – regardless of their ability to pay. PCHC is recognized as a leader among the nation's Community Health Centers, and has been named an “exemplar practice” by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation’s leading health care foundation. PCHC practices are staffed by about 200 clinicians including medical and dental practitioners, mental health providers, physical therapists, pharmacists, and medical specialists. All PCHC services are provided with a sliding fee scale based on income through its Affordable Care Program to make certain that everyone can obtain the healthcare services they need. About 7% of PCHC’s budget is funded by Federal operating grants.
