Job Description

The College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking distinguished applicants to fill open Experiential Education Regional Director positions. Average weekly time commitment generally requires less than 5 hours per week.

Pharmacy Experiential Programs
Experiential Education is a required component of the professional doctorate of pharmacy (Pharm.D.) curriculum and provides students with experiences in the field under the guidance of preceptor faculty. The experiences culminate with the advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPE) occurring in the fourth and final year of the curriculum. Region Directors
The Region Director reports to the Assistant Dean for Experiential Education and is designated as the leader of the Galveston/Houston (GHO) region.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Managing Introductory (as needed) and advanced regional pharmacy students
  2. Supporting Region sites and preceptors questions or concerns
  3. Managing APPE preceptor and student schedule changes, as assigned
  4. Overseeing and tracking region site and precepotr quality assurance (may involve site visits, meetings with preceptors at sites) and reporting information to experiential office in Austin.
  5. Recruitment and retention of introductory and advanced region sites and preceptors.
  6. Ensuring ample site availability for the region
  7. SErving as a communications liaison between experiential office and sites/preceptors in a bidirectional manner
  8. Educating region preceptors
  9. Participate in other duties as assigned

Positions Currently Open
This posting remains open on a rolling basis to fill any open Regional Director position needs.

Qualifications

Candidates must be able to dedicate 4-5 hours per week to this position, and meet the following qualifications:

  • earned Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy;
  • be licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Texas;
  • at least 3 years of pharmacy practice experience; and
  • effective communication skills.

Completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency is preferred.
