Pharmacy Clerk – Specialty & Infusion Operations

Location: 5895 Core Road, Charleston, SC 29406-6088

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $20/hr (Paid Weekly)

Contract to Hire: 10/04/2026 to 12/31/2026

Interview: Preferably in person; typically one interview round, with a second interview possible if needed

Registration: South Carolina Pharmacy Technician registration preferred, but not required. Candidates must be willing to complete registration.

Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license required

Position Overview

The Pharmacy Clerk/Technician supports specialty and infusion pharmacy operations by preparing, processing, packaging, and coordinating medication orders and related supplies. This position may work with unit doses, specialty pharmaceuticals, injectables, IV medications, enteral products, and other pharmacy supplies while following applicable state and federal regulations as well as company policies and procedures.

The role also supports pharmacy inventory, warehouse functions, infusion pump management, prescription processing, patient/member communication, and order fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispense unit doses, specialty pharmaceuticals, injectables, IV medications, enterals, and related supplies in accordance with applicable regulations and company procedures.
  • Compound medications when applicable using appropriate components and supplies.
  • Process, pack, and ship outgoing pharmacy orders, ensuring medications, supplies, and patient education materials are included.
  • Assist with infusion pump inventory management, including:
  • Processing pickup tickets for pump pickups.
  • Managing current pump inventory.
  • Identifying pumps due for routine maintenance.
  • Assisting with sending pumps for maintenance.
  • Completing required documentation in the online portal.
  • Perform drug and supply ordering and assist with inventory and warehouse activities.
  • Properly store medications and supplies, including appropriate refrigeration of perishable products.
  • Monitor, adjust, and calibrate pharmacy equipment as needed.
  • Fill dispensing units.
  • Prepare and scan documents and verify member/patient information.
  • Submit prescription orders through the computer system.
  • Contact members/patients to validate information and resolve issues related to their orders.
  • Resolve rejected claims and request payment information when necessary.
  • Establish order priorities and coordinate delivery details.
  • Assist members/patients with medication shipping questions and issues.
  • Interpret provider prescriptions and create medication orders accurately.
  • Access, enter, and retrieve prescription and medical/laboratory information from computer systems.
  • Verify whether medications and orders are reimbursable or covered.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable pharmacy regulations and company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to move, bend, and perform physical activities required for warehouse and pharmacy functions.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a pharmacy and warehouse environment.
  • Ability and willingness to complete South Carolina Pharmacy Technician registration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid South Carolina Pharmacy Technician registration preferred.
  • Pharmacy technician or specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Experience with infusion, specialty pharmaceuticals, IV medications, or enteral products is beneficial.
  • Experience with pharmacy inventory, order fulfillment, or warehouse operations is a plus.

Work Environment

This position combines pharmacy operations, order fulfillment, patient/member support, and warehouse responsibilities. The successful candidate should be comfortable balancing medication-related tasks with physical warehouse activities while maintaining accuracy, organization, and compliance.
