The Pharmacy Care Technician supports the organization's quality and population health initiatives focused on medication-related performance measures, including Medicare Part D Star measures (e.g., medication adherence for diabetes, hypertension, and statin therapy). This role conducts high-volume member outreach, identifies and helps resolve barriers to medication adherence, and collaborates with internal teams, providers, pharmacies, and contracted health plans to close care gaps. The Pharmacy Care Technician plays a key role in executing medication adherence strategies, supporting chronic condition management efforts, and ensuring accurate documentation of outreach and outcomes.

Schedule: This position is full-time, Monday - Friday (business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm)

Location: 19191 S. Vermont Ave, Suite 300, Torrance, CA 90502

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-volume outbound calls to members to identify and address barriers to medication adherence, statin use, and other pharmacy-related quality care gaps.
  • Perform structured outreach to members, pharmacies, and providers to support resolution of medication access issues, refill gaps, and adherence barriers.
  • Process medication refill requests per protocol, escalate non-protocol requests, coordinate prior authorizations, and resolve refill-related issues.
  • Provide basic medication education to reinforce adherence, clarify regimens, and support long-term medication use, within technician scope.
  • Utilize payor data platforms, adherence tools, and internal reports to prioritize and execute targeted outreach efforts.
  • Document all outreach activities, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in EMRs and other performance tracking systems.
  • Assist in tracking, monitoring, and reporting medication-related quality metrics and outreach productivity.
  • Collaborate with clinical pharmacists, providers, pharmacies, and care teams to address adherence barriers and close care gaps.
  • Support coordination with contracted health plans on medication adherence initiatives, including data file validation and outreach campaigns.
  • Identify and escalate potential medication discrepancies or clinical concerns to the pharmacist for review.
  • Participate in team meetings, performance reviews, and process improvement initiatives to enhance program outcomes.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician License in the state of CA
  • 2+ years of pharmacy-related experience (including prescription processing and data entry, ability to match brand and generic drug names, and understand medication indications with strong knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology)
  • 2+ years of experience conducting outbound calls or high-volume outreach setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in Population Health, managed care, Medicare Advantage, medication adherence, or Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) environments
  • Familiarity with healthcare-related platforms (e.g., payor-specific systems, Epic EMR, Cozeva, or similar tools)
  • Ability to recognize and escalate potential medication discrepancies and contraindications

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18 to $32 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
