We are looking for a dedicated Pharmacist like you to join our Lubbock Heart team.

What You Will do in this Role:

  • Assists in delivery and maintenance of pharmacy services.
  • Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners.
  • Provides communication of pertinent pharmacy issues.
  • Supervises technicians.
  • Assists the Director with clinical functions such as drug reviews, DUE criteria, antibiotic sensitivity reports, adverse drug reaction reports, and pharmacy interventions summary.
  • Participates in the quality improvement activities of the department. Collects and analyzes data and maintains documentation of all clinical activities.
  • Participates in hospital meetings/committees as required.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • Must be licensed and registered by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Three years of experience as a practicing pharmacist in a hospital or commercial drug store.

Additional Skills & Knowledge You Will Need:

  • Parenteral Nutrition
  • Renal dosing
  • Drug therapy monitoring
  • Antibiotic therapy monitoring
  • Emergency drug therapy – ACLS/BLS
  • Pharmacokinetics
  • Patient counseling
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of:
    • The practice of institutional pharmacy
    • Pharmacy reference materials and utilization for provision of drug information
    • Computer systems
    • Practice of inventory/stock controls and systems
    • Drug/solutions delivery systems
    • Drug interactions/incompatibilities
    • Current laws/regulations which affect the practice of pharmacy
  • AGE RELATED COMPETENCIES:
    • Human development knowledge/skills
    • Pharmaceutical Care Needs of Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric Patients
  • Know the definitions of fundamental computer terms related to applications software and desktop PC's
  • Know how to open, read, and respond to email
  • Know how to manage electronic files
  • Know how to print electronic documents and reports

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. We pride ourselves on giving the best overall care possible to our patients and on our family style atmosphere that includes everyone: patients and their families, physicians, and our employees.
