Job Description

As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications by our patients and overseeing the operations and safety of the pharmacy, including compounding, dispensing, scheduling, purchasing, distribution, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. This role will also serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for the California pharmacy license and must maintain compliance with all state licensing requirements.

This is a temporary per diem position created to support PromptCare’s Lenexa pharmacy site and maintain California pharmacy licensure compliance effective July 1st. The selected candidate must hold an active California pharmacist license and be willing to serve as PIC for the California pharmacy license.

The schedule is flexible, with an anticipated need of approximately 3 days per week, though PromptCare is open to candidate availability and minimum scheduling requirements. The expected assignment length is approximately 6-8 weeks, depending on business needs and licensing transition timelines. Overnight accommodations may be considered for qualified out-of-state candidates.

Requirements

  • B.S. or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required, or Registered Pharmacist license if foreign graduate
  • Active unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of California required
  • Active pharmacist license in Kansas preferred
  • Must be willing to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for California pharmacy license compliance
  • 1+ year of hospital and home infusion therapy experience preferred
  • Two years of recent clinical pharmacy experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of infusion therapies preferred
  • Recent inventory management experience preferred
  • Accuracy in mathematical calculations including pharmacokinetic dosing preferred
  • Knowledge of CPR+ software preferred

Job Responsibilities, included but not limited to:

  • Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for California pharmacy license compliance
  • Closely collaborate with the nursing organization to coordinate optimal patient care and service for referral sources (hospitals, physician groups, etc.)
  • Able to assume temporary leadership of the pharmacy with minimal supervision
  • Checking and dispensing of medications in compliance with state and federal laws
  • Maintain strong knowledge of PromptCare’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure consistent application
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of pharmacy rules and government regulations and dispense accordingly
  • Answer questions from technicians, nurses, and sales staff regarding pharmacy operations and medication management
  • Support pharmacy compliance and operational continuity during temporary assignment
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to communicate verbally and listen attentively. The role necessitates the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as needed. Additionally, the position occasionally requires lifting office products and supplies weighing between 20 and 30 pounds.
