Prepares and dispenses medications for inpatients and outpatients according to orders by qualified prescribers.
-Performs various pharmacy functions such as preparing, labeling,dispensing inpatient and outpatient medications as interpreted from thedirect orders of qualified prescriber. Supervises or is active in thecompounding of bulk or extemporaneous and medications, theirpackaging and proper labeling. Including manufacturing records andcontrols. Supervises use of all special pharmacy equipment.
-Maintains prescribed records of all medication orders and prescriptionsfilled, including all controlled drug records. .
-Performs and directs prepacking activities, dispensing of supplies toother departments and discipline, routinely inspects all medicinalsupplies on station or in other departments maintaining documentation,therefore, dispensing and accomplishes control on all controlled drugfloor stock and reviews and disposes of unused medication returns.
-Maintains adequate stocks of medications and supplies. Keepsequipment and utensils in good condition. Requests assistance formhousekeeping, maintenance or other support departments whenneeded.
-Supplies information to other professional or para-professionalpersonnel on request, instructs and In-service Training Programs andparticipates in extra-institutional public relations activities on request.
-Assists Pharmacy Supervisor and Associate Directors in personnelrelated functions.
-Instructs and educates outpatients on proper drug usage.
-Maintains a professional area at all times.
-One (1) year, with recognized internship acceptable.
-New York State Pharmacist License required.

BronxCare’s outpatient practices are also certified as a Level Three Patient-Centered Medical Home (the highest designation) by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
As an engine for positive change, BronxCare has infused more than $400 million into the Bronx economy, including a new Pediatric Specialty Center and Ophthalmology Practice, among numerous other capital projects. A new 33-bed Medical-Surgical Unit at the Concourse Hospital Division and 20-bed Adult Psychiatric Unit at the Fulton Hospital Division will increase inpatient capacity to 912 beds, further reinforcing BronxCare’s ability to address the significant needs of the Bronx community.
BronxCare is also modernizing its Inpatient Maternity and Labor and Delivery Units, as well as its Women’s Health Center and Neurology Suite, to improve the patient experience. Additionally, BronxCare’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center Practice at 174th Street will be opening.
