Pharmacist – OptumRX

Contract to Hire

Pay Rate: $70

Schedule: Rotating shifts; weekday hours may vary between 8:00 AM–8:00 PM. Includes approximately 1 in 3 weekends (9:00 AM–5:00 PM), with two four-day weekends per month. Weekends, holidays, overtime, and extended hours may be required based on business needs.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacist to support the day-to-day operations of a dispensing pharmacy. The Pharmacist will help ensure safe, accurate, and efficient medication processing and dispensing while supporting pharmacy management goals and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.

This position requires strong attention to detail, sound decision-making, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily pharmacy operations, including workflow, production goals, and deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal pharmacy regulations, including DEA and HIPAA requirements.
  • Supervise pharmacy production staff and ensure proper order entry, workflow, pharmacy security, and delivery schedules.
  • Review new and refill prescriptions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Verify the accuracy of drug packaging, labeling, and medication orders.
  • Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of sterile IV medications and solutions.
  • Assist with the ordering, receiving, handling, documentation, and storage of controlled substances.
  • Assist with maintaining perpetual inventory records for Schedule II medications.
  • Ensure the pharmacy workflow dashboard is cleared daily.
  • Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage as part of the scheduled rotation.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment.
  • Follow all departmental policies related to safety, attendance, and dress code.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

The position operates in a pharmacy environment and may involve the use of computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing systems, rolling carts, fax machines, and other standard pharmacy/office equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • May sit or stand for approximately 7–10 hours per day.
  • May occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, walk, or crawl.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands required in a pharmacy production environment.

Additional Requirements: Overtime, weekends, holidays, and extended hours may be required or expected based on pharmacy operations and business needs.
