PGY2 Pharmacy Resident - Critical Care-(260002FQ)

A Brief Overview

This position is a 12-month postgraduate pharmacy education and training program designed to provide practical experience in the provision of pharmaceutical care. The pharmacy resident will continue to develop advanced knowledge and skills to prepare for specialized pharmacy practice. Emphasis will be placed on communication, lifelong learning, leadership, evidence-based medication management and safety. In order to meet these goals, the resident will experience a variety of patient care and administrative pharmacy practice areas. Upon completing the experience, trainees will develop a strong foundation to practice in a specialized practice area and/or an entry level pharmacy administrative role.

What You Will Do
  • Collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Ensure safe, effective, and appropriate drug therapy
  • Prevent, identify, and resolve drug-related problems
  • Ensure continuity of care
  • Participate in the formulary process
  • Serve as an informational and patient problem solving resource for clinical staff pharmacists
  • Completing a pharmacy practice research project and present results at a state/regional or other relevant conference
  • Active participation in local, state, and national professional organizations.
  • Provide pharmacy education to a variety of pharmacy learners (students, residents, staff) as appropriate
  • Program specific activities and staffing as outlined in the Residency Program Specific Manual
Additional Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Qualifications

Education
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree obtained from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy or equivalent experience. (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Computer system skills in spreadsheet, database and word processing (Preferred proficiency)
  • Must demonstrate highly effective written and oral communication skills. (Required proficiency)
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency (Required proficiency)

  • Eligible for Ohio licensure (Required)
