PGY1 Pharmacy Resident

CarepathRx Pharmacy Services is seeking a PGY1 Pharmacy Resident for our Oakdale, PA location. This ASHP-accredited, 12-month residency program is designed to develop clinical, operational, leadership, and practice management skills within the home infusion and specialty pharmacy setting. The resident will participate in a structured learning program emphasizing direct patient care, interdisciplinary collaboration, medication safety, quality improvement, research, and professional development. Through progressive responsibility and mentorship, the resident will develop the knowledge, skills, and professional judgment necessary to become a competent, patient-centered pharmacy practitioner.

Location: This position is onsite at our Oakdale, PA location.

Schedule: This is a full-time, 12-month PGY1 Pharmacy Residency position beginning July 6 and ending June 30.

Essential Functions

  • Participate in required and elective learning experiences across home infusion, specialty pharmacy, clinical support, infectious diseases, nutrition support, medication safety, and other practice areas.

  • Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care through medication therapy management, patient counseling, clinical monitoring, and drug information services.

  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, providers, patient access teams, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary patient care activities, case reviews, and clinical decision-making.

  • Develop and present continuing education programs, journal clubs, case presentations, and other educational activities.

  • Design, conduct, and present a residency research project suitable for presentation at a regional or national meeting.

  • Develop a manuscript suitable for publication based on a research, quality improvement, or practice advancement initiative.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, medication use evaluations, operational excellence initiatives, and medication safety activities.

  • Demonstrate progressive independence in clinical and operational responsibilities throughout the residency year.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all company policies, accreditation standards, and applicable state and federal regulations.

  • Participate in required staffing activities and operational responsibilities as assigned.

  • Serve as a professional representative of CarepathRx through collaboration, communication, accountability, and commitment to patient-centered care.

  • Uphold the mission, vision, and values of CarepathRx while promoting a culture of quality, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy.

  • Eligible for pharmacist licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • Successful completion of both the NAPLEX and Pennsylvania MPJE within 90 days of the residency start date.

  • Strong clinical knowledge with the ability to apply evidence-based medicine principles.

  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Commitment to professional growth, lifelong learning, and advancement of pharmacy practice.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and pharmacy-related technology systems.

Residency Completion Requirements

To successfully complete the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program, residents must:

  • Achieve a minimum of 80% of residency objectives at the Achieved for Residency (ACHR) level as defined by Residency Manual.

  • Successfully complete all required and elective learning experiences.

  • Successfully complete and present a residency research project.

  • Develop a manuscript suitable for publication.

  • Complete all required residency projects, presentations, evaluations, and program deliverables.

  • Fulfill all staffing requirements and responsibilities assigned through the residency staffing component.

  • Demonstrate professional behavior and competency consistent with expectations of an independent pharmacy practitioner.

  • Meet all program requirements established by CarepathRx and ASHP accreditation standards.

This position is worksite dependent and can only be performed onsite at our Oakdale, PA location.
