Position Specific Description

As a member of a highly-specialized group within NextEra Energy Pipeline Services (NEPSCO) Environmental, Health, Safety, and Emergency Response Department, the Technical Services Manager would be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable DOT/PHMSA, OSHA, State and municipal emergency response regulations, safety programs specific to electrical safe work and the control of hazardous energy, Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Planning (RMP), and Human Performance. The Technical Services Manager will manage a Team to develop plans and procedures, perform training, and execute drills for the NEPSCO Midstream Gathering, Transmission Pipelines, and Renewable Fuels operated assets. This position reports to the NEPSCO Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience managing technical professionals, including remotely located;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the Business Unit from field operations to senior management;
  • Technically-proficient safety professional adept at public speaking, data analysis, compliance auditing, and strategic regulatory analyses;
  • Self-starter with strong cognitive problem-solving abilities;
  • Team player with demonstrated history of meeting project deadlines;
  • Motivated goal-oriented individual with excellent leadership, organization, planning & implementation, time-management, and quality control skills;
  • Ability to understand and communicate risks associated with compliance to senior management and within project execution teams;
  • Safety / PSM Audit experience;
  • Risk Management Planning and procedure development; and
  • Human Performance Factors program knowledge.

Minimum Requirements include:

  • 10 years of experience in safety, process safety management, emergency management, and auditing;
  • Ability to work in results driven, fast -paced environment;
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, proposal and presentation);
  • Experienced in procedure and plan writing;
  • Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Projects, and Visio;
  • Able to travel up to 75% to and from company assets, construction sites, emergency events, and for other agency/project meetings including the following states: Alabama, California, Florida, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia.
  • Valid U. S. Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering, safety, or other technical disciplines.
  • Experience working onsite at gas plants, power plants, and pipeline facilities
  • Certified Safety Professional, highly preferred.
