Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy is seeking an Engineer to join the Power Generation Division Engineering & Operations Support Services organization as part of the wind renewable energy fleet team. The ideal candidate is capable, organized, results oriented and process focused.

Position/Job Overview and Expectations:

  • The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Apply standard processes/procedures to achieve objectives and goals
  • Apply sound engineering principles to a broad variety of assignments
  • Travel to wind sites as often as 5-10 days per month
  • Respond as needed during off-hours as power generation business operates ‘around the clock’

Under supervision/guidance, the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Perform Day to Day Activities of Wind Mechanical Equipment Dispositions
  • Drive-train system
  • Yaw system
  • Pitch system
  • Hydraulic system
  • Bolted Joint
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis
  • Systemic & Emerging Wind Turbine Issues
  • Catastrophic Events
  • Develop & Deploy
  • RCA Countermeasures
  • Reliability Improvement Countermeasures
  • Cost Effective Solutions to Problems
  • Tool Development
  • Drive Organization Efficiencies
  • Automating Processes
  • Standardizing Dispositions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ Years of Relevant Engi ct, test, etc.)
  • Demonstrated History of Professional Work
  • Travel to wind sites as often as 5-10 days per month
  • Physically Capable of Climbing a Wind Turbine and Executing Field Work
  • Engineering Work (design, project, test, etc.)
  • Demonstrated History of Professional Work
  • Travel to wind sites as often as 5-10 days per month
  • Physically Capable of Climbing a Wind Turbine and Executing Field Work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Gear, Bearing, Bolted Joint Design, Application and/or Maintenance Experience
  • Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Experience with Maximo or similar enterprise asset management system
  • Six Sigma Certification

Employees in this role apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields. Individuals will use advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Devises new solutions to problems encountered
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's - Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Experience: 2+ years

  • Supervisor/Management Experience: 0+ years
