Job Specification: Pest Control Officer

Position: Pest Control Officer
Location: Port Elizabeth
Reporting To: Operations Manager / Branch Manager
Employment Type: Permanent
Salary: Market Related (Depending on Experience)

Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Pest Control Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional pest management services to commercial, industrial, food manufacturing, warehousing, retail, and residential clients while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and food safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience as a registered Pest Control Officer (PCO)
• Valid P Number (Pest Control Operator Registration)
• Registered in Structural Pest Control
• Registered and experienced in Structural Fumigation
• HACCP knowledge and experience essential
• Valid Code B Driver's Licence
• Ability to work independently and manage a service route
• Good communication and client relationship skills
• Ability to complete reports and service documentation accurately
• Physically fit and comfortable working in various environments
• Clear criminal record preferred

Key Responsibilities

Pest Control Services

• Conduct routine pest control inspections and treatments at client sites.
• Identify pest infestations and determine appropriate treatment methods.
• Implement preventative pest management programmes.
• Carry out rodent, insect, bird, and other pest control treatments.
• Install and maintain bait stations, insect light traps, and monitoring devices.
• Monitor pest activity and provide recommendations to clients.

Structural Fumigation

• Conduct structural fumigation projects in accordance with legislative requirements.
• Prepare fumigation sites and ensure all safety procedures are followed.
• Monitor fumigation processes and maintain required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations regarding fumigants and hazardous substances.

HACCP & Food Safety Compliance

• Service food manufacturing, warehousing, hospitality, and FMCG clients in accordance with HACCP requirements.
• Maintain pest control records and trend analysis reports.
• Assist clients during food safety and quality audits.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and customer-specific requirements.

Client Service & Reporting

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
• Provide professional advice regarding pest prevention measures.
• Complete service reports, treatment records, and site documentation.
• Report any hygiene, housekeeping, or structural concerns that may contribute to pest activity.
• Ensure all service documentation is submitted accurately and on time.

Vehicle, Equipment & Compliance

• Maintain company vehicle, equipment, and chemicals in good condition.
• Ensure safe handling, storage, and transport of pesticides and fumigation products.
• Comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Adhere to company policies, industry regulations, and environmental standards.
