Job Description

The Leidos Security Service Center located in Chantilly, VA is seeking an experienced Personnel Security Officer to support the Department of Defense (DOD) team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage clearance processing and accesses for various DOD government agency sites

  • Initiate, track, and document all aspects of personnel security functions for DOD including, but not limited to processing security clearances, reinvestigations, continuous vetting, outgoing visit requests, request for accesses

  • Collaborate, communicate, and interface with applicants; Security professionals with Leidos; government entities, and customer sites; Program Managers; and Leidos business areas to provide status reports on various requests and activities

  • Possess a thorough understanding of the Defense Information System for Security (DISS)

  • Manage reports and maintain the personnel clearance database(s)

Desired Competencies:

  • Critical Thinking – Has experience gathering information, objectively analyzing it, and drawing conclusions while focusing on comprehension of policies, regulations and standards.

  • Judgement and Decision-making – Has proven ability to assess situation and information and reach sound conclusions in atypical situations.

  • Compliance-minded – Has experience with applicable policies, standards, laws, and rules, to include interpreting and applying against customer requirements to resolve security issues.

  • Clear Communication – Is able to write and speak in a clear, concise, effective manner to a wide variety of audiences, to include displaying active listening skills.

  • Customer Relationship Management – Proven track record as a self-starter and experience building partnerships while understanding customers’ mission, vision, and issues and prioritizing work accordingly.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of Secret clearance on start date with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of related experience

  • Working knowledge of DOD clearance processing procedures

  • Knowledge of DOD government regulations (e.g., CFR 32, Part 117) is required

  • Experience using various databases, including proficiency with MS Office

  • Solid command of the English language with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced team environment

  • High level of discretion and judgment when handling sensitive personal information

  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter as well as a solid group contributor

Preferred Experience:

  • Top Secret clearance

  • Proficiency with SIMS security software

Pay Range:

Pay Range $50,700.00 - $91,650.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
