Fitness Centre Supervisor Starting Hourly Rate: $22.17
Personal Trainer Starting Hourly Rate: $31.94

Reporting to the Coordinator, Recreation, the part-time Fitness Centre Supervisor and Personal Trainer positions are responsible for ensuring a safe and welcoming environment to all users, promoting Personal Training and providing individual or group training to clients. Successful candidates must be able to work an average of 6-10 hours per week including varying day, evening and weekend shifts, Monday through Sunday.
Provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment to all current and potential pass holders to help them excel in their active living goals within the Fitness Centre
Monitor fitness centre entry point and educate members on fitness centre policies.
Instruct pass holders on safe use of equipment and technique; valuate situations for potential risks and proactively take action to address such risks; communicate any action and/or concerns to supervisor
Provide personal training or small group training programming;, design personalized fitness programs based on individual needs and goals and small group class plans to meet group goals. Assist instructors with set-up and take down of classes for smoother transitions where required.
Provide a warm-up or substitute class, based on personal area(s) of expertise if an instructor is late or absent
Establish positive relationships and clear communication channels with all staff and participants
Maintain a safe and clean facility, including regular cleaning and proper usage and storage of equipment
Proactively communicate program needs to facility maintenance staff and communicate any facility or equipment deficiencies to supervisor
Comply with all health and safety practices as it relates to the work, standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Report any incidents, concerns or site damage to Coordinator, Recreation
Provide content for and update member communication boards
Complete shift checklists including, but not limited to, repair logs, cleaning and machine safety checklists
Ensure all programs follow fitness industry standards
Attend and participate in mandatory staff functions
Ensure all applicable certifications are current and provided to Coordinator, Recreation
Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with department objectives
Current CSEP-CPT or Certified Personal Trainer in equivalent organization is required
Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification is required.
Completion of post-secondary education in Health & Fitness Promotion, Recreation & Leisure Services or a related field preferred
One (1) year working within a Fitness Centre setting and one (1) year personal training experience preferred
HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development preferred
Fundamentals of Fitness Leadership preferred
Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required
