Job Description

The YMCA of Greenville is a dynamic and rapidly growing association that seeks to strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

The Personal Trainer is responsible for serving members in the areas of health and fitness. This role is responsible for serving members in the areas of health and fitness. This person will have the advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully work one-on-one with clients desiring a program tailored to meet their specific needs.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate as a Wellness Coach
  • Provide comprehensive fitness assessments for members and clients.
  • Provide personalized exercise programs for members and clients.
  • Ensure proper administrative responsibilities are followed to document sessions with clients.
  • Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of exercise modes and techniques.
  • Promote and incorporate the YMCA’s 4 core values to members and clients.
  • Obtain relevant CEC’s and keep certifications up to date.
  • Perform projects/duties as assigned (Newsletters, Articles, Staff Trainings, Workshops, Health Education, etc.) by supervisor.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge on how to use all exercise equipment.
  • Ensure exercise programs provide measurable results and that the client is satisfied with training.
  • Provide adequate work availability for members and clients.
  • Adhere to the Non-Compete Clause stating that you will not train with specific YMCA of Greenville competitors.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities
    • Front Desk Personnel- ensure consumers are properly signed in and out, ensure only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc.

Qualifications

  • Current NCCA Personal Trainer, ACSM, NSCA, NETA, NASM, or ACE certification.
  • CPR/First Aid & AED Certified or certification attained within 30 days of employment.
  • Excellent member service skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, & physiology.
  • Marketing and sales ability.
  • Computer skills involving Microsoft Office and email.
  • Desire for health, wellness, and fitness promotion.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Personal passion for health and fitness.

BENEFICIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree in Exercise Related Field and/or equivalent health and fitness experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequently move throughout the facilities
  • Maintain a stationary position for more than 2.5 hours per day
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with program participants and exchange accurate and appropriate directions.
  • Frequently moves program supplies up to 100 pounds.
