Job Description

  • Responsible for developing, implementing and supervising specific exercise prescriptions for individuals with different fitness levels, medical concerns, and/or different age populations.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Trainers must have clients complete a personal training packet, discuss and set goals, schedule of training sessions, and discuss training package options.*
  2. Trainers are to help client set realistic, specific, and attainable goals. Timelines must be established for each goal.*
  3. Design and implement safe, effective individual fitness programs based on the client’s current fitness level and fitness goals.*
  4. Trainer must be knowledgeable about exercise and other wellness topics.*
  5. Trainer must have good interpersonal skills, use good judgment, and have good problem solving skills, show initiative and demonstrate courtesy and respect toward others.*
  6. Trainer must be outgoing and flexible in order to adjust to all possible situations.*
  7. Trainer must be able to work independently and use good judgment when working with clients and their programs.*
  8. Lead Fitness Orientations when necessary.*
  9. Abide by all rules and regulations established by the Bridgewater Club.*
  10. Maintain current certifications and CPR at all times.*
  11. Must have professional insurance liability coverage.*
  12. Continuing education requirements for certification must be up-to-date.*
  13. Trainers are responsible for obtaining their continuing education credits to keep their certifications current.*
  14. Trainers are responsible for having their own liability insurance coverage and must keep it current.*
  15. Trainer must have the ability to work closely with other professionals, such as physicians and physical therapists in order to provide appropriate exercise prescription.*
  16. Complete all projects assigned by the Wellness Services Supervisor / Fitness Operations Director in a timely manner.*
  17. Be an effective leader. Using good communication, listening, and organization skills and having a positive attitude at all times.*
  18. Performs other related duties as assigned.*

Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Degree in Exercise Science or Health Related Field is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years experience required

Qualifications/Certifications:

  • Hold and maintain a nationally recognized certification (NSCA, ACSM, ACE, NASM, AFFA, Cooper Institute, NFPT or other)
  • Must be CPR/AED certified
