Our Global Employer Services team supports international private clients as well as companies and their global workforces, while liaising with teams across the Deloitte network in supporting and assisting clients and their needs, across mobility tax, immigration and reward. Our work entails providing comprehensive tax advice as well as assistance to high-net-worth individuals in their relocations and personal concerns.

This is an opportunity to step into a role that involves leading client projects, engagement teams and building client relationships to solve complex tax technical issues for our clients through innovative approaches. You will advise clients on domestic and international tax matters considering the changing global landscape. You will apply your expert knowledge of taxation issues through providing tax advisory services, such as identifying client needs and partnering with different business areas within Deloitte to deliver complete solutions to clients. You will assist on how best to leverage technology including generative artificial intelligence to maximize efficiencies, streamline processes and ensure compliance. You will mentor and help develop junior staff through regular meetings focused on career and personal development and learning and development initiatives.

How you will Make an Impact

This role will require managing a team of tax professionals and taking responsibility for drafting tax advice, conducting topical tax research, and proactively assisting clients in their day-to-day requests.

Your main tasks would include:

• Advise clients on issues relating to local tax laws, reporting requirements, statutory filings, and other relevant taxation matters;
• Reviewing written technical advice, reports, memoranda and/or other deliverables relevant to tax laws and rules
• Identifying opportunities for facilitating client goals with changes in process/approach to global mobility.
• Taking a pro-active role to provide value add advisory and looking for opportunities to expand services or workshops to deepen engagement with the client
• Maintaining expert awareness of recent legislation relating to tax and immigration and communicating this to clients
• Liaising with the Malta Tax and Customs Administration to discuss client tax issues, and supporting team leaders in ensuring that client deliverables and project deadlines are met;
• Assist multinational companies address their global workforce income tax and immigration compliance needs locally;
• Review AML documentation and ensure compliance with local laws and internal requirements;
• Reinforcing technical competence by keeping up-to-date on local and international personal income tax developments, trends and legislative changes, and applying this to client situations; and
• Utilize and assist in the application of Deloitte technological tools for the purposes of client delivery.

Let’ s Talk About You

• Actively manages the work of their teams against project scope to maximize quality, effectiveness and value to both clients and to Deloitte;
• Have an excellent command of written and spoken English;
• Understand impact of fact pattern on tax situation and demonstrating basic familiarity with Income Tax Treaties (OECD) and the wording of standard relevant articles;
• Be in possession of a Masters’ Level of education in Accountancy, Law or a relevant area;

• Have at least 5 years’ experience within local industry; preference is given to those with a solid background in Personal Taxation & Immigration

Coming in at manager level, the chosen candidate is expected to be able to work independently and on their own initiative;

• Demonstrate a commitment to staying abreast of tax regulations and effectively communicating such updates to the team;
• Be able to work on cross-functional engagements with other service lines within the firm;
• Be self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills, and willingness for growth.
