RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manages compliance with safety and industrial hygiene regulations, industry practices, and MPC initiatives by developing and supervising the implementation of safety policies and procedures, implementing corporate safety initiatives, and evaluating compliance with safety policies and procedures. Supports site emergency planning and response efforts.
2. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of component processes, engineering controls, administrative controls, injury & illness controls, and new safety developments that will impact the organization including the development and advancement of construction, major projects, and/or turnarounds.
3. Drives strategic improvement of internal processes and programs by using strong interpersonal skills to influence individuals and teams. Develops and implements safety and industrial hygiene audit programs and oversees completion of corrective actions resulting from audits.
4. Maintains effective leadership and engagement through field presence with employees. Fosters a culture of safety and trust with employees, internal customers, and contractors through collaboration and alignment of goals, programs, and initiatives.
5. Maintains safety performance while operating in a cost-effective environment which may include preparing annual and mid-year budgets, monitoring actual safety expenditures, and adjusting budgets as necessary.
6. Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPI) for safety and ensures these are communicated to component staff on a routine basis. Develops corrective action plans to maintain KPIs within accepted target ranges.
7. Forecasts staffing requirements and coordinates with the ES&S Manager on the recruitment and hiring of qualified personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required
10+ years of relevant experience
Valid driver’s license required
