The Village of Wentworth Heights has an exciting opportunity for a Medication Certified Personal Care Aide to join their team.

• Status: Temporary Part-Time & Unscheduled Part Time
• Location: 1620 Upper Wentworth St, Hamilton, ON L9B 2W3
• Shift Details: 20hrs - 24hrs bi-weekly (subject to change based on variable levels of staffing)
• Expected Start Date ASAP

The hiring rate for this role is $22.76 per collective agreement/employee association agreement.

As a new Medication Certified Personal Care Aide (Med Cert PCA) joining our Village, you will:

Support and embrace our resident-centered social culture and be proud to deliver the highest quality of personal care to our residents. You will work as key members of our Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ individual needs, and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care.

Medication Certified Personal Care Aides (Med Cert PCA) at Schlegel Villages foster exemplary relationships with residents, their families and the Village team to deliver holistic care to our residents and medication administration to medically stable residents that focusses on flexible living and quality of life.

In addition to supporting residents with personal hygiene care, basic nursing care, companionship and activities, our Medication Certified Personal Care Aides (Med Cert PCA) administer medications, record temperature, pulse and respiration (TPR) and skin care treatments under the direction of our Registered Team.

Our Medication Certified Personal Care Aides (Med Cert PCA) know our residents and are quickly able to identify and report any changes in the resident’s well-being to the Registered Practical Nurse or Charge Nurse.

To be successful as our new Personal Care Aide Medication Certified (PCA Med Cert), you will:

  • Hold a valid PSW Certificate that is 600 hours or greater and meets the vocational standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities, the standards established by the National Association of Career Colleges, or the standards established by the Ontario Community Support Association
  • Have successfully completed a Medication Administration certificate or course

  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents, families, and team members
  • Understand the physical, mental, and emotional demands of the PSW role
