
Personal Assistant for Chair Professor (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Department of Chemistry (Ref.: 537162) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Science and have at least two years of work experience in executive or administrative roles outside a laboratory setting. A Master's degree, preferably in Chemistry, Management, or a related discipline, would be an advantage. They should have an excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua. They should be proactive and solution-oriented individuals with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Applicants should possess experience in accredited laboratory environments and demonstrate a proven track record of scientific contributions through patented technology development, journal publications, and/or laboratory protocol design. Experience in developing and/or utilizing management systems is preferred. While knowledge of R and Python would be advantageous, practical experience with Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Creative Suite, website design, and AI-driven platforms are essential.
The appointee will assist the Chair Professor and his research group in various duties, such as managing the Chair Professor’s dynamic calendar, bookkeeping, expense management, recruitment, program registration, and organizing events and related logistics. He/She will also be responsible for maintaining and enhancing data management systems and website platforms. In addition, he/she will facilitate effective communication and coordination among various academic and administrative offices, as well as across different research sub-groups, and perform any other duties as assigned. Flexibility to work on-site during holidays or outside normal office hours, when required, is essential.
