The Graduate Programme within the Standard Bank Connect Operations teams is designed to build strong technical, analytical, and operational capability in billing and MVNO. The programme equips graduates with technical billing expertise, enabling them to manage billing systems, process customer usage data, and ensure accurate and efficient invoicing for mobile services. A key focus is on strengthening revenue accuracy and assurance by developing the ability to identify discrepancies, prevent revenue leakage, and support overall financial integrity within the MVNO environment.

Graduates will gain a comprehensive understanding of MVNO operations, including the partnership model with network providers, product structures, and customer billing frameworks. Through practical exposure, the programme develops advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling graduates to interpret complex billing data, resolve discrepancies, and improve processes through data-driven decision making.

The programme also supports customer experience excellence by emphasising the importance of accurate and transparent billing, which strengthens customer trust and reduces disputes. Overall, the programme is designed to build a pipeline of future leaders within Standard Bank Connect by preparing graduates for long-term roles in Billing, Finance, and Telecommunications Operations, supported by structured development, mentorship, and ongoing performance feedback.

Key responsibilities:

Billing Operations Support:

  • Assist in the execution of end-to-end billing process for MVNO (Subscription, Device, and once-off charges).
  • Support the generation, validation, and distribution of customer invoices.
  • Monitor billing cycles to ensure timely and accurate processing.

Usage Data Management:

  • Collect, validate, and process usage records (Call Detail Records – CDRs).
  • Ensure data integrity between network usage systems and billing platforms.
  • Identify and escalate data inconsistencies or processing errors.

Revenue Assurance:

  • Support activities to detect and prevent revenue leakage.
  • Perform reconciliations between billing systems (single view) and financial records.
  • Assist in audits and compliance checks related to billing accuracy.

Billing Systems and Tools:

  • Work with billing platforms and support systems to maintain accurate configurations (pricing, tariffs, bundles).
  • Assist in system testing for new products, pricing updates and system upgrades.

Customer Account Support:

  • Investigate and resolve billing queries and disputes in collaboration with customer service teams.

Reporting and Analytics:

  • Prepare regular billing and revenue reports.
  • Analyse billing data to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunity.
  • Support decision-making with data-driven insights.

Cross functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with IT, Finance, Product and Customer Experience teams.
  • Support the launch of new products and services by ensuring billing readiness.

Compliance and Governance:

  • Ensure billing processes comply with regulatory requirements and bank’s policies.
  • Maintain proper documentation of billing procedures and controls.

Continuous Learning and Development:

  • Participate in training programmes related to telecom billing, MVNO systems.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Contribute to innovation and process optimisation initiatives.

Qualifications

Completed Undergraduate within 2 years or Postgraduate qualification (recently completed or completing in 2026):

Additional Information

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Should you have work experience, it should not exceed 12 months.
