Job Description

We are working closely with Sefton MBC to assist with the appointment of a Personal Advisor, on a 7- months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £16.87- £22.18 per hour



Sefton MBC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Advisor to support young people leaving care and care-experienced young adults as they transition into independent living. Working within the Children's Social Care Service, the postholder will provide practical advice, advocacy, and coordinated support to improve outcomes in accommodation, education, employment, health, financial wellbeing, and social inclusion. 

Responsibilities

  • Provide practical advice, guidance, and ongoing support to care leavers in accordance with statutory responsibilities and departmental procedures.
  • Assist care leavers to access suitable accommodation and maintain sustainable tenancies.
  • Encourage and facilitate positive contact between young people and their birth families where appropriate, including supervising contact sessions when required.
  • Identify, assess, and report risks, safeguarding concerns, and welfare issues in accordance with legislation, council policies, and local safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential electronic case records using the Integrated Children's System (ICS) and other information management systems.

Qualifications:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics (essential).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, Children & Young People's Services, Youth Work, Advice & Guidance, or a related discipline (essential or willingness to achieve).

Essentials:

  • Experience supporting vulnerable children, young people, or care-experienced young adults.
  • Experience working within Children's Social Care, Leaving Care Services, Youth Services, Family Support, or a related environment.
  • Experience preparing, implementing, or contributing to Pathway Plans or support plans.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting care-experienced young people, including housing, education, employment, health, and independent living.
