Job Description

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Personal Adviser on a 3- months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay £16.12 - £21.10 per hour

The Personal Adviser role is a vital position within Cardiff Council's Social Services Division, specifically serving the Resources section. You will provide essential advice, guidance, and practical support to young people transitioning out of the care system. Operating from a strengths-based (Signs of Safety) approach, you will ensure that every young person is at the heart of their own transition, helping them navigate their aspirations and needs as they move toward independence.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide young people leaving care with comprehensive advice and guidance, including hands-on practical support for daily living.
  • Participate in the assessment, preparation, and formal review of Pathway Plans to ensure they are current and effective.
  • Assist young people in participating actively in their own planning, ensuring their individual strengths and goals are reflected.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records using electronic databases and produce reports for other agencies or Court proceedings as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others in compliance with legislation.
  • Identify unmet needs in a young person's care and raise these issues during supervision for resolution

Essentials:

  • Proven experience in conducting assessments and person-centered planning.
  • Understanding of the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act
  • A car allowance is provided (Casual paid at HMRC rates); therefore, the ability to travel for work is essential

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
