UGL is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Person In Charge of Testing (PICOT) for Dynamic Testing to join the RIS Alliance team delivering the landmark Cross River Rail Project.
This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in the testing and commissioning of rail systems within one of Australia's most significant transport infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will lead and coordinate dynamic testing activities within the project’s railway tunnel environment, ensuring all testing is conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved plans and procedures.

About the Role
As the Person In Charge of Testing (PICOT), you will be responsible for managing and coordinating dynamic testing activities. You will provide leadership and oversight to ensure testing is completed safely, effectively, and in compliance with project standards & technical requirements.
Testing activities will include complex integrated systems within the Cross River Rail tunnel environment, including:
New Generation Rolling Stock (NGR)
Platform Screen Doors (PSD)
Tunnel Ventilation Systems (TVS)
Communications Systems
European Train Control System
SCADA and Control System
Fire and Life Safety Systems
Traction Power Systems
Passenger Information Systems
CCTV and Security Systems
Emergency and Operational Tunnel Systems
Other rail operating systems associated with railway tunnel operations
Ensure allocated testing activities are completed in accordance with approved test plans and schedules.
Coordinate and direct testing personnel during the execution of testing activities.
Monitor testing progress and proactively address issues impacting delivery.
Liaise with engineering, commissioning, construction and operational teams to facilitate successful testing outcomes.
Ensure suitably qualified personnel, equipment and resources are available to execute planned testing activities on each shift.
Verify test equipment calibration and readiness.
Coordinate access requirements, permits and system availability prior to commencement of testing.
Ensure all testing activities are conducted in accordance with UGL, RIS Alliance and Cross River Rail safety requirements.
Verify all safety documentation, permits, work packs and isolation records are completed and approved.
Conduct pre-start briefings and ensure all personnel understand testing risks and controls.
Lead a strong safety culture and intervene where unsafe conditions or practices are identified.
Ensure all testing documentation and records are accurately completed and submitted.
Reporting
Maintain accurate records of testing outcomes, defects and observations.
Prepare shift reports and communicate testing status to project stakeholders.
Escalate technical, safety or program issues as required.
About You
Essential
Previous experience in a Person In Charge of Testing (PICOT), Testing Supervisor, Commissioning Supervisor or equivalent leadership role in dynamic testing.
Experience working within rail infrastructure, rail systems, signalling, commissioning or major infrastructure projects.
Strong understanding of safe work practices within operational rail or tunnel environments.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and coordinate diverse testing teams.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Commitment to achieving high safety and quality standards.
Desirable
Experience on rail tunnel or underground infrastructure projects.
Qualifications in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or a related discipline.
Rail Industry Worker (RIW) accreditation and relevant rail competencies.
High Risk Work Licences and Safety Certifications.
