Job Description

We are a values-focused organisation, who put the people we support, first. Established in 1982 by a group of local parents who wanted respite and accommodation for their now adult children, we have expanded exponentially because our participants love our services.

At Community Living Options we provide an inclusive environment where people are valued and supported. We welcome applicants with lived experience, all abilities, cultural background, gender, sexuality, age and spirituality.

Join our Rural & Regional team! This is not your typical support role, you will empower individuals to live their best lives by supporting their dreams, choices, and individuality. Our participants have diverse interest which includes coffee catchups, family visits, gardening, and creative pursuits. You will be supported by a dedicated Service Coordinator to deliver a specialist, evidence-based model of support that empowers, uplifts and has been shown to make a lasting difference.

About the Role

I am a 42-year-old female participant living in Goolwa, with Intellectual Disability and Epilepsy. I really enjoy cooking and baking, and I love spending time with my friends at day options and catching up on weekends when I can. I am very independent and value my personal space. I enjoy a calm, quiet environment and love expressing myself through bright, colourful clothing, layered outfits, and jewellery I've collected from op shops.

This includes:

  • Support me to make my own choices, build my independence, and work towards the goals that are important to me.
  • Build a positive and trusting relationship with me, responding with patience, empathy, and consistency.
  • Encourage me to stay connected to my community, including attending Day Options and catching up with my friends, cooking and baking.
  • Understand my support needs and follow the strategies that help me feel safe, supported, including ensuring that my home is a nut-free environment.
  • Respect my dignity, rights, and individuality, while promoting choice, inclusion, and empowerment in everyday life.
  • Work collaboratively with my support team to provide consistent, person-centred support.
  • Assist me with personal care and daily living tasks in a way that maintains my dignity and independence.
  • Contribute to a safe environment by following behaviour support strategies, risk assessments, and positive behaviour support approaches.

Who We’re Looking For

I'm looking for someone who believes in choice, independence, and inclusion. You'll be patient, understanding, and able to build a positive connection with me while supporting me to achieve the things that are important in my life. Experience is great, but what matters most is your attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to making a difference.

About You

I'm looking for someone who is kind, reliable, and enjoys helping people live meaningful and independent lives. For me, it's not about having all the right experience, it's about finding someone who genuinely wants to get to know me, support my goals, and enjoy the journey alongside me.

You'll be someone who can:

  • Build a genuine, respectful relationship with me based on trust and encouragement.
  • Support me to stay independent and confident in the things that are important to me, including staying connected with my friends at Day Options.
  • Bring a positive attitude, a good sense of humour, and a willingness to have fun.
  • Encourage my choices, celebrate my achievements, and see my strengths and abilities.
  • Be patient, dependable, and consistent in your approach.
  • Work alongside me to achieve my goals while respecting my dignity, individuality, and rights.
  • Be open to learning and committed to providing person-centred support that helps me live life the way I choose.

What You’ll Need to Thrive in This Role

  • NDIS Worker Screening
  • Working with Children Check
  • A current Driver’s Licence
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificates
  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability/Aged Care) or similar qualification (we also welcome applicants without qualifications)

Why Join CLO?

At CLO, you'll be part of a supportive and inclusive team where kindness, trust, learning, connection and inclusion guide everything we do. We offer ongoing training and development, salary packaging of up to $15,899 tax-free, discounted health and fitness benefits, and most importantly, the opportunity to make a genuine difference in people's lives every day. If you share our values and are passionate about supporting others, we'd love to hear from you.
