As a Permitting Coordinator I, you will...
Accept and process permit applications via electronic submission or walk-ins; enter data into the permit tracking system accurately.
Verify fees and issue permits, certificates of occupancy, and certificates of completion per ordinances and policies.
Assess fees according to the Fee Ordinance and collect payments related to permitting, licensing, code enforcement, and utilities.
Respond to customer inquiries following applicable regulations.
Research permits and related information using files, databases, and assist with permit records management.
Schedule inspections, update contractor license information, and maintain/update procedure manuals.
Maintain permit records, coordinate file transfers, and respond to requests for building permit files.
Balance and reconcile cash daily; complete required cash handling and other mandatory training.
As a Permitting Coordinator II, you have a better grasp of the permitting process, serving with minor assistance. Examples of job responsibilities (in addition to those listed above) include...
Ability to complete daily reconciliation, with assistance, of the PDS One Stop permit center.
Actively assists contact center staff by providing permitting and inspection information.
Assist and mentor/training Permitting Coordinator I staff.
Work Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Typical Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ( no weekends!)
As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Valid Florida Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
Permitting Coordinator I -
3 years of clerical/office or customer service experience.
Permitting Coordinator II -
1 year of experience involved with interpreting, enforcing, screening, or monitoring of a regulatory process ( such as permitting, planning, zoning, ordinances, licenses, building, taxes, etc.)
Satisfactory Completion of Core Competencies or an ability to obtain Core Competencies within 6 months of hire date (see Addendum #1).
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:

Experienced with building construction inspections, permitting, planning, zoning, and/or construction knowledge.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) with the ability to learn County software like QTrac and Accela.
Strong skills in interpreting business rules, regulations, codes, policies, and building plans/blueprints.
Excellent interpersonal and customer relations abilities; capable of good judgment, prioritization, and collaborative problem-solving.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
Starting Pay:
Permitting Coordinator I - $19.09/hr
Permitting Coordinator II - $20.85/hr
