As a Perinatal Sonographer, you will play a critical role in continuing the healing mission of Deaconess.

Our team provides compassionate, highly skilled, individualized care for expecting mothers and their babies. We are seeking a team player who is looking for a department that provides state of the art evidence-based care within a culture of caring. Our sonographers work in the inpatient setting within the Radiology department with rotating weekends and holidays.

The Sonographer performs quality, diagnostic high risk OB, GYN, and a variety of abdominal ultrasounds as well as
performing ultrasounds on patients in a Level III neonatal intensive care unit according to ALARA guidelines. The
Sonographer understands processes for reporting routine and STAT exams and transmitting images/EKG’s to on-call
physicians. The Sonographer is responsible for proper cleaning and usage of transvaginal probe. Job duties include but are not limited to:


  • Performs quality, diagnostic exams according to protocols established by Perinatologist/Radiologists.

  • Performs patient exams within proper time frame.

  • Properly coordinates patient medical history and physical conditions with requested exam.

  • Accurately documents findings for interpreting physician.

  • Accurately enters exam information into Viewpoint and PACS.

  • Performs EKG’s and demonstrates knowledge of transmission and when/how to contact Cardiologist for routine and STAT orders.

Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education:

  • Must obtain and maintain ARDMS certification in OB/GYN (or be registry-eligible for SPI and OB/GYN and obtain within 3 months of hire).
  • Job specific training with Tri-State Perinatology is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 6 months of hire.
  • Must obtain Pediatric Echocardiography registry (RDCS-PE) within 12 months of completed training. Job specific training with Pediatric Cardiology is required.
  • Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS) certification is required for primary coverage periods, which generally align with the highest inpatient service demand; requirements for other coverage times may vary based on departmental needs. Employees hired prior to January 1, 2025, are grandfathered in and are not required to hold this certification. Required
