Job Description
The Performance Operations Coordinator works closely with the Senior Manager of Performance Operations to provide operational support to meet the production needs and safeguard effective coordination of all school-wide performance activities and school events. This position also manages the inventory and maintenance of equipment and auxiliary instruments of the School.
This position reports to the Senior Manager of Performance Operations.
Responsibilities:
Production and Stage Management
- Assists in the management of scheduling, coordination, correspondence of all TJS performances and school events, including but not limited to preparing performance permit application, stage diagrams, scheduling soundchecks, event summaries, technical rider, venue preparation, stage set-up, stage change, communication with students and faculty regarding recital logistic, programs, advising students of recital booking policies and procedures.
- Assists in developing and maintaining the Recital Management System (RMS) application.
- Serves as stage manager for all TJS performances and assist in special events productions as needed.
- Assists with rehearsal and performance space booking.
- Maintains and updates the School’s performance archive and performance library, under the advisement and supervision of the Senior Manager of Performance Operations.
- Collaborates with Orchestra Studies to provide operational support of regular rehearsal and concert set-ups, instrument needs, school-wide mock auditions.
- Assists Academic Affairs on chamber music and master class coordination as necessary and pertinent to performance operations.
- Assists with the training and supervision of the student workers and stage crew.
Instrument and Equipment Management
- Assists the Senior Manager of Performance Operations in managing music instrument and accessories, including but not limit to instrument usage, inventory, storage, maintenance, transportation, procurement and rental.
- Facilitate the transportation of large instruments and equipment.
- Under faculty’s guidance, perform regular maintenance on instruments as needed.
- Conducts quarterly/yearly inventory to assess instrumental needs, track and inventory all instruments and equipment. Input new instruments into database, label them, and update inventory list.
- Assess and evaluate storage area, reorganize and redesign storage spaces as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or above.
- Background in music performance, performing arts education, or artistic administration preferred.
- Verbal and written fluency in English and Mandarin.
- Ability to successfully prioritize the management of multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work under extreme pressure and meet strict deadlines while remaining flexible and organized.
- Attention to detail, strong service orientation, and demonstrated ability to work well with others.
- Proficient in using various Office software and AutoCAD experience.
