Performance Improvement Program Manager – Registered Nurse -Wilmington Trauma Program

The role of the Trauma Program Performance Improvement Program Manager is to abstract, interpret, present data and lead trauma program projects with the objectives of initiating performance improvement and care management to demonstrate excellence in health and clinical outcomes of our Level III Trauma Program in Wilmington Hospital. The Performance Improvement Program Manager establishes and monitors quality of the Trauma Registry consistent with the standards of the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines the scope of services for performance improvement, quality, and care management for Wilmington Hospital Trauma Program.
  • Maintains proficiency in and initiates utilization of data management tools and PI methodologies within the trauma program and systemwide.
  • Leads and manages projects aligned with the needs of the Trauma Program as a Level 3 to include policies & procedures to improve clinical service or financial outcomes and organizational performance.
  • Utilizes clinical expertise and data-driven/research-based information to guide assessment and potential causes or an alternative treatment option relative to specific cases and events.
  • Assists in identifying potential quality issues based on referrals and appropriately refers for case/peer review process.
  • Collaborates with personnel facilitating clinical, quality, patient safety and process improvements with the objective of improving trauma center performance.
  • Maintains knowledge of appropriate performance improvement referral process systemwide and collaborates with other departments when necessary.
  • Collaborates with trauma program leadership, trauma personnel and processes in pursuit of maintaining or exceeding American College of Surgeons trauma regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates with trauma program leadership to ensure PI compliance with the Level 3 trauma center criteria as outlined in the American College of Surgeons’ “Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient.”
  • Collaborates with trauma program leadership to establish a clearly defined and continuously functional integrated trauma performance improvement and patient safety (PIPS) program with the structure and process as defined in the American College of Surgeons’ “Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient.”
  • Assumes responsibility for data measurement tool designs, implementing, measuring and assessing assigned projects in collaboration with leadership.
  • Maintains current knowledge of databases, registries and other comparative data sources.
  • Assesses appropriate inclusion/exclusion criteria of data based on the defined data dictionary.
  • Maintains quality control programs as necessary by ensuring integrity of data through quality audits.
  • Assists in ongoing readiness for the ACS site survey process and other assigned accrediting processes.
  • Maintains a commitment to health care quality and professionalism, through participation and support of national, state and/or local organizations.
  • Attend and provide data for trauma PI meetings.
  • Provides trauma nursing education such as TNCC, ATCN, and topics generated thorough the PI process.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s required or commitment to obtaining within three years from date of hire.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of critical care, ED or trauma experience required.
  • Previous experience with performance improvement and data abstraction/trauma registry preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in State of DE. Professional certification in an ED, trauma or critical care specialty area. Participation in professional trauma activities. Certification in TNCC or ATCN; instructor status preferred.

Hourly Pay Range: $41.28 - $66.05This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
