Job Description
Job Purpose:
- Responsibility for Performance Excellence on the site
- Be part of the Operations Management team
Main Responsibilities:
Performance Excellence Manager:
- Implement/drive the Performance Excellence strategy/program here on site using the ADM tool kit (Foundations: Strategic Deployment Framework, Safety/Quality/Environment and Structured Management System. Pillars: Proactive Maintenance, Daily Equipment Care, Focused Improvement, Continuous Colleague Development, Workplace Organization, Material and Information Flow, Early Equipment Management and New Products and Technologies)
- Design/implement the PE site master plan and then the subsequent foundation/pillar master plans that spin off from that.
- Train and then mentor the Foundation/Pillar leaders on the principles/concepts behind each one and then put these into practice via pilot areas here on site.
- Then look to cascade PE across the site embedding it into our everyday way of working. The site operates across various departments (warehousing, production, laboratory, maintenance, support functions), across various buildings, locations (Lopen/Bridgwater) and shifts (24/5 and sometimes 24/6, 7) so a strategy around how to implement and then sustain will be required.
- Chair/lead the monthly PE steering committee.
- Be a change agent taking the site from a ‘break-fix’ way of working to a proactive approach, particular focus being around ways of working under the pillar of ‘Focused Improvement’. Look for opportunities to break the firefighting way of working through disciplined RCA/Kaizen events on the shopfloor, identifying repeat failures and removing through correct CAPA plans.
- Embed 5S, visual management and Gemba visits as core tools to drive improvement and engage with the teams…
- When PE is established look to start focusing on efficiencies of our different lines/services (capsuling, tabletting, blistering, sachet, syringe filling/labelling and boxing machines)/utilities (compressed air, purified water, gas and electric) with regard to throughput, yield, wastage, OEE, breakdowns, cost of poor quality, methodology etc.
- Drive the yearly ambition to reduce costs be it in our manufacturing costs or via material usage variances.
- Attend the various PE best practice sharing meetings/forums with the other ADM sites both showcasing our improvements but also stealing with pride best practice coming from other sites.
- Support (as needed) PE activities on the Denmark site.
- Help co-ordinate the project portfolio management within the Operations team i.e. come up with a tool that helps manage the different workloads being requested/managed here on site. To include but not exhaustive (CAPEX, NPD (including commercial), NPE, operations projects etc).
Operations Management team:
- Along with the other functional managers help build the site master plan and then thereafter, look for opportunities to improve on the following aspects: People (reward & recognition, mentoring, training, development and talent management),
- Safety (improve safety culture and ensure all activities are being done in a safe/complaint manner),
- Quality (improve safety culture and ensure work is complaint to cGMP/FSA guidelines), Delivery (to improve OTIF, reliability, OEE as above)
- Cost (Look for opportunities to save cost in our manufacturing costs or via material usage variance)
