General Job Description
The Health Assistant serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community and healthcare providers to advocate for health care and a healthy school environment.
Line of Authority/Reports to The Health Assistant shall be directly responsible to the Principal.
Job Goal
The Health Assistant for Leman Academy serves in a pivotal role to provide expertise and oversight for the provision of school health services and promotion of health education. Using clinical knowledge and judgment, the Health Assistant provides triage healthcare and information to scholars and employees, as well as assistant in health screenings and assists in coordinating referrals if necessary.
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:
Duties and Areas of Responsibility:
Assist with the provision of screening services for:
Vision screening and referral as needed per state guidelines
Hearing screening and referral as needed per state guidelines
Assist with parent notification regarding any vision/hearing screening results that do not meet state criteria, follow up on notifications, communicate diagnosis and any school accommodations to appropriate personnel as well as completion of required state reports.
Assist with scholar immunization compliance per state requirements. Assist with parent notification of any deficits, and follow up with parents and administration as needed.
Assist with education of staff as government requires regarding current health issues within the school and community environment.
