8660 Employee Health ServicesEmployee Health Nursing is an Occupational Health specialty that provides health and safety programs to workers and staff. The Employee Health Nurse (EHN) focuses on promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness and injury, and protection from work-related and environmental hazards. EHNs make independent nursing judgments and are capable of designing and delivering direct health care to employee-based populations.
QUALIFICATIONS
License /Certification
Required:
CA RN license
BLS
Education
Preferred: BSN, MSN, or currently enrolled in RN-BSN program.
Experience
Required: Three or more years of experience as an RN.
Preferred:
Phlebotomy experience
Computer experience
One year experience in employee health or as an occupation health nurse (OHN).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential
Completes pre-placement and periodic physical examinations and drug screens.
Assures maintenance of accurate and complete employee health records for all staff members.
Assures adequate clearance for staff returning to work following an injury/illness, whether work related or not and reviews with employee's department manager any restrictions recommended as needed.
Assesses staff member injuries/illness, renders first aid as appropriate and assures that proper paperwork is completed and documentation is done in Employee Health software program.
Serves as Case Manager for all workers' compensation lost time claims and communicates frequently with injured worker and Third Party Administrator as well as employee's supervisor as needed.
Handles all reported exposures, doing appropriate counseling, test of source and employee, and completing appropriate paperwork, documentation and reporting.
Additional
Maintains staff immunization and TB testing programs.
Maintains inventory of medicines and medical supplies.
Assists mid-level practitioner and Employee Health Medical Director with appointments for injured workers and completion of required reports.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.
